Is really Antigone guilty?
Should this young woman be punished for a crime that was only honoring her brother?
Many of us followed this case closely and respected the rules and commands that our ruler Creon has given us.
Now the dilemma is was Antigone wrong or is Creon wrong? I am not anybody to tell who is right and who is wrong. Maybe Antigone is right Polynices was her brother and like a good sister, she had the need to honor. From this blood line they are not many left and those that are left have to be together.
We need to stop and think for a second what we would have done if it were our brother that had to be unburied. Would we have done the same as Antigone or hide and left our loved one wondering the earth like a poor soul? Ismene did not care about the luck that the soul of her brother would get; she just hid and did not care about her brother. Maybe Creon made this law purposely to hurt Antigone and Ismene. Whom else this law would affect if it were for the last two sister of this bloodline.
I think that Antigone should not be convicted as guilty, she was only honoring her family, and any of us would have done the same if we were in her position. It is not her fault that Creon created a law full of foolishness.
All I can say is open up your hearts and let the love and forgiveness come in; she acted from her heart. Creon acted from foolishness. In which side would you prefer to be on?
