Posted on 06 November 2007 at 18:22:02 As I seem to be able to find, there is no way of developing or buying Schematics for Crafting. they only seem to appear as Loot drops.
Is there any way to gain these through purchase or experimentation?
Can you library learn the schematics you know?
Does anyone know of future plans for Crafting as it looks a little hollow at the moment

At the current time, you can only receive schematics through loot drops or quest rewards. There are not any locations where they can be purchased.

The schematics are a one time use item with exception of the paint schematics received as a bonus gift with the Collector's Edition. It is unknown if we will be able to learn them permanently in the future.

I have not seen much of anything in the line of craft news. Being so close to release, it is quite possible that crafting has been put on the back burner for the time being. At least until things like quest bugs (Predatory should ring a bell) are taken care of. About all we can do right now is sit back and hope for the best.

Posted on 09 November 2007 at 12:17:42 OK here is what I have learnt.
Crafting uses two things. Schema's and Mat's or Schematics and Materials.
You can only get Schemas from loot drops (there is one vendor I have found so far but has only one schema).
You get mats from deconstructing items you find (stat items, green or Blue) much the same as Wow except more predicatable. When I destructe a pistol with +2 Mind, I know I will have a chance of producing the Mats for a Schema for increasing Mind on an item (as it happens a "Adaptive Cortical Interface") see http://ellatha.com/TR/craftinglist.asp on this site.
Now for the crafting, when you craft you have your schema and mats ready. You need the target to modify. the schema lists a stat called Target: this is the conditions that must be met for the target to my valid, pistol up to Lvl 10.
From what I have been able to see, you can mod a target several times but each mod has less of a chance of working and an increasing chance of destroying the item with each successful mod you try applying. I tried to add a 3rd mod stat and was told 50% success chance with a 12% destroy chance.
Tips, dont sell any stat gear unless you cant destruct it. Hold all schemas to trade for scemas you can use

Posted on 09 November 2007 at 13:13:28 What im doing is saving all the Purple Items .. sticking them on to a Alt ..
I also D/E all the Greens + Blues that I cant use .. I store all the materials with Icons in the Footlocker .. while the non icons i keep on me .. so they can just stack on top :)
As for Schem + Recipes .. I usually do all the enchancement recipes that I have onto my gear .. the rest that i cant use ill sell to vendor ... Schems . im saving only high lvl Med Packs + EMP Nades.. everything else im vendoring
