[EVENT] European SWG Fan Party: London - Saturday 27th of Feb 2010
Hey all,
We've had several of these meet ups over the last three years, usually involving much fun, SWG talk and a fair amount of drinking. Fear not younger community members, as we're hiring a function room you can also attend as long as you stay on cola! Even if you don't know anyone that plays, come along on your own and you will soon make friends, such is the SWG community spirit.
In years past, quite a few of the participants fly in from Europe to attend. If you need info on flights and hotels, please just post and ask as one of our veteran event visitors from oversees will surely be able to help you.
Although semi-retired, Aphelia lets her very own 'Operational Droid Factory' run 24-7 churning out recently obsolete Droidekas to continue to fill a long standing order from a mysterious, self-described, "Free Range Droid Activist" working on Lok...
What is this? It's a podcast focused on Star Wars Galaxies and all things Star Wars. We talk about how Star Wars and SWG pop up in our daily lives, what we've been doing in the game, and discuss the state of the game. We're just a couple of players, like the rest of you, who enjoy Star Wars.
We are not empolyees of Lucas Arts or Sony Online Entertainment nor do these companies pay us to produce this show.
Episode 126 Don't cut the ribbon! 2010.02.26
Well hello there! So nice of you to join us for another installment of Star Wars Galaxies with Yivvits and MrBubble. This one has something for everyone! Yivvits talks about the new GCW system and quickly goes over the latest "Letter from the Producer." MrBubble updates us on what he's been playing while enjoying more expensive pistachio nuts. Finally, we have a single lonely voice mail message, we chat with our buddy Yoda, and have some fun with download statistics.
One follow up to this episode - Since we recorded it, our friend "RedHeadedTim" the Podcast Librarian is doing great! He's on the mend now and we hope to see him again soon!

SOE has millions of gamers around the world! Every week we highlight one of them. This week we are pleased to introduce: Amdo from Star Wars Galaxies.
Amdo and his car
Amdo Playing Hockey
Where in the real life world do you live?
What SOE Game(s) do you play? Star Wars Galaxies
How long have you played the above games? Since April of 2005
What other games do you play? I run two computers, I play SWG on my main desktop and Runescape (as well as internet browsing) on the laptop.
What type of work do you do? I am in the grocery business.
Do you listen to the Official SOE Podcast? What do you like best about it? I do not actually lol.
How many hours a week do you play video games? Over 20 normally.
What does a typical gaming session consist of? I normally fire up the computers and check sales on SWG, check SWG forums and then I normally camp the bazaar while actively browsing the forums.
In the SOE Games you play what do you play? Race/class/Rank/Faction ect.... My main character is an Imperial BM/Medic Rodian Private. My Colonel rank on both of my characters got stripped when GCW came out.
My alt is an Imperial Droid Engineer Imperial Private.
What got you into gaming and what sort of games do you like the most? I got into gaming as soon as I was introduced to the computer when I was 6. I used to play many racing games but always dreamed of a sandbox style game. Of course back then I did not know it was defined as that nor did I know they existed.
SWG was what made me into the gamer I am today, I bought it one day and fell in love with it even though my computer ran it horribly. I only play MMOs now and SWG is my original and favorite MMO game.
What other hobbies or activities do you take part in, other then playing Video Games? Chasing girls, going to the movies with girls, hanging out with girls, texting girls, playing ice hockey during the winter, I really enjoy starbucks, I get a Venti White Chocolate Mocha daily for the most part.
What is your highest level character? I am 90 on both of my SWG characters.
What do you like the most about your favorte SOE Game? I really enjoy the sandbox envioronment of SWG, I live for saving money to collect new rares. I also really love the housing.
How did you choose your main character's name? Amdo was originally a game test name I used, I had originally used it in 05 when I went onto Test Center. Amdo is a rodian name I got out of a book, I used Doda for a long time but over the years Amdo has become my gaming name.
What got me hooked on the name Amdo was when I went to check out Runescape and I made my test character and decided I did not want to do the tutorial again, and they did not have a rename option, so I actively used the name Amdo1 on Runescape for years and when I transferred to Starsider decided to have my main named Amdo and my alt named Amdoo.
What is your favorite zone? I really like alot of places in SWG, have seen some truly impressive scenes. I did do alot of bazaar camping in Restuss but have recently relocated to Narmle because I moved my houses. This is a really difficult questions for me however lol.
What is your favorite NPC? Emperor Palpatine I believe.
Which zone do you like the least? Mos Eisly. Too busy.
Which NPC do you like the least? I am not entirely sure but I am going to pick Sean Tredwell for now. Victor is the best candidate for Bestine!
What is the most in-game currency you have ever spent on purchasing a single item for one of your characters? Currently the record holder is 2bil on my first Dusk in Kachirho.
Do you have an item you no longer use but keep around for nostalgic reasons? If so what is it and why do you keep it? I have quite a few actually. Have a fair amount of old Pre-CU/NGE weapons and armor all with decay on them that I have not used in years.
Describe your best experience from playing your favorite SOE Game? I have had sooo many. I used to really enjoy hiking out onto Endor or Dathomir and just placing a camp and looking at the sky. Sometimes set off some fireworks hoping that somewhere in the distance another person could see them. I used to do that all the time.
I remember how mystical my first night on SWG was, just running out into the desert and setting up a camp on a mountain near Bestine and killing the creatures that kept spawning near my camp. I had some really nooby yet very special times those first few weeks of SWG. As well as many good memories since.
This game has been a big part of my life and I love it very much.
